SEAMEO RECFON and the Human Resources for Health Development and Empowerment Agency (Badan Pengembangan dan Pemberdayaan Sumber Daya Manusia Kesehatan-BPPSDMK) of the Ministry of Health of Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 23 September 2019 during the Centre’s 9th Governing Board Meeting at Rancamaya, Bogor, West Java.
The MoU was signed by SEAMEO RECFON Director, Muchtaruddin Mansyur, PhD and BPPSDM Secretary, Trisa Wahjuni Putri, MKes. The signing was witnessed by the Centre’s Governing Board Members from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, The Philippines, Singapore, representatives of Bogor City Mayor’s Office, Bogor Provincial Education Office, Bogor District and Bogor Municipality Health Office, and school partners in Bogor.
In this 5-year collaboration, both parties agreed to synergize their efforts to improve the capacities of human resources for health development in the field of food and nutrition in Indonesia through education, research, and community service. In particular, the partnership expects to increase the capacities of health polytechnic institutes as well as community health centers (Puskesmas) in delivering health and nutrition messages to schools and communities especially through SEAMEO RECFON’s flagship programs on Nutrition Goes To School (NGTS) and Early Childhood Care, Nutrition, and Education (ECCNE).
The BPPSDMK is responsible for improving human resource for health in Indonesia through its technical units, including 33 health polytechnic institutes and 5 human resources for health training centers which are located throughout all provinces in Indonesia.
SEAMEO RECFON has been carrying out its mandates in collaboration with several health polytechnic institutes of BPPSDM in West Java, East Java and Kalimantan since 2000. With the MoU, the Centre could now extend its technical assistance to all health polytechnic institutes in Indonesia as well as tap their services for NGTS and ECCNE implementation.
