Jakarta, 18 October 2024 – In conjunction with the 2nd International Conference on Food and Nutrition (ICFN) on 17th – 18th October 2024, SEAMEO RECFON held a series of competitions, photo essays and video reels on food and nutrition.
The photo essay competition had 57 participants while the video reels competition had 39. The participants were then selected into top 10 for both the photo essay and video reels competition as the finalists, before getting into the final results. From the 10 finalists of each competition, SEAMEO RECFON announced the final result, categorizing into 2 titles: the winners and the favorite for each competition, on the day-2 of the conference.
The winners of the photo essay competition are: 1. Gabriella Praisea Henny Rumani, Indonesia; 2. June Vincent R. Blas, Philippines; 3. I Gede Andi Legawa, Indonesia. The winners of the video reels competition are: 1. Kesya Mahesa & Gung Mas Regina (team), Indonesia; 2. Sarra Areen Nurkamilah, Indonesia; 3. Nur Kamilah Mohd Fauzy, Malaysia. As aforementioned, each competition has a favorite title. The favorite photo essay title was given to Viola Aurel Deswanda, Indonesia. While the favorite video reels title was given to Zaizaafun Nasywa, Dewi Ashari, and Ayu Nursanti (team). Alongside with the announcement, SEAMEO RECFON on day-2 of 2nd ICFN, congratulates all the winners of both categories.
In addition to that, SEAMEO RECFON commemorated 50 years of collaboration with the Wageningen University & Research , “Reminiscing the Beginning.” This session brought special representatives of SEAMEO RECFON and Wageningen University & Research collaboration as the speakers. They are: Prof. Jo Hautvast (Former Head of Human Nutrition, Wageningen University & Research), Prof. Soemilah Sastroamidjojo (Former SEAMEO RECFON Director), Prof. Edith Feskens (Head of Human Nutrition, Wageningen University & Research), and Dr. Herqutanto (SEAMEO RECFON Director).
This commemorative session highlighted the long-standing partnership between SEAMEO RECFON and Wageningen University & Research in addressing nutritional challenges across Southeast Asia. The year 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of this significant collaboration between both parties. This milestone is not only a celebration, but also an opportunity to reflect on the transformative impact SEAMEO RECFON and Wageningen University & Research partnership has in improving nutritional health across the region.
