SEAMEO RECFON visited Malang, East Java on 6-10 November 2023 to strengthen the implementation of the Nutrition Goes to School (NGTS) Program and partnership with Brawijaya University (UB) @gizi.ub and Malang Health Polytechnic (Polkesma) @poltekkes.malang as the academic partner.
On November 6, 2023, our team met the Brawijaya University team to discuss the planning on an extended MoU, and collaboration roadmap, as well as the preparation of a stakeholder meeting.
The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Brawijaya University officially opened the stakeholder meeting of the NGTS Program in Malang City on November 7, 2023, and Dr. Dwi Nastiti Iswarawanti (Expert of SEAMEO RECFON) also delivered her remarks and presentation about NGTS Program. This meeting was also attended by the District Education and Culture Office and the District Health Office of Malang City. All parties agreed to continue the implementation of the NGTS Program in two pilot schools in the next year. In the afternoon, we also conducted a half-day workshop for the 6 NGTS target schools in Malang District. The topics discussed were the documentation, monitoring, and sharing sessions on the NGTS program implementation to prepare the school for the institutionalization phase.
On 8 and 9 November 2023, our team visited 7 NGTS schools in Malang District to observe and discuss the follow-up plan of the NGTS Program in 2023/2024. The schools were encouraged to develop at least two NGTS components in the action plan. During the visitation, the team also observed the school facilities such as the school canteen, school health program facilities, etc. On 9 November afternoon, we conducted a partnership meeting with Malang Health Polytechnic (Polkesma) to discuss the existing collaboration activities, identify the challenges and opportunities, as well as the future plan for collaboration.
