Nutrition and health training for teenagers through The Nutrition Goes to School (NGTS) programme implementation for madrasahs, held for the first time in Yogyakarta on 27-29 May 2024.

This training is conducted by the Directorate of Curriculum, Institutional Facilities and Student Affairs, Ministry of Religion, in collaboration with SEAMEO RECFON and the Faculty of Public Health of Ahmad Dahlan University. Ten selected madrasahs, representing five regencies and municipalities in Yogyakarta, participated in the training.

NGTS Program Member Team from SEAMEO RECFON, Aziz Jati Nur Ananda  states that the training aimed to equip teachers with knowledge about nutrition and how to educate students about it.

“One of the efforts we are starting in this programme is training, so we are targeting teachers, hoping to begin by capacitating teachers to expand their knowledge about nutrition and also how to educate about nutrition,” Aziz stated.

Meanwhile, Head of Sub-Directorate of Institutions and Cooperation, Directorate of Curriculum, Institutional Facilities and Student Affairs Madrasah, Directorate General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religion Papay Supriatna, expresses his hope that this training will mark the beginning of the implementation of the NGTS programme in Indonesian madrasahs.

“There are more than 87,000 madrasahs across Indonesia, our hope is that this training will mark the beginning of the implementation of Nutrition Goes to School in Indonesian madrasahs,” Papay said.
