The 4th Global Nutrition Leadership Young Scientist Award – 22nd International Congress of Nutrition

The Global Nutrition Leadership Platform (GNLP), composed of alumni from nutrition leadership programs from across the world The European Nutrition Leadership Program (ENLP), the African Nutrition Leadership Programme (ANLP), the South-East Asian Nutrition Leadership Programme (SEANLP) , the Latin American Society of Nutrition (LILANUT), the Oceanic Nutrition Leadership Programme (ONLP), are proud to announce the 4th joint Young Scientist Award. The aim of this award is to recognize the potential of young scientists from around the world and from all fields of nutrition to become global leaders in nutrition.

Funding

Support for the award is provided by Sight and Life, a global nutrition think tank and incubator, which delivers science-based solutions to eliminate all forms of malnutrition among vulnerable populations. As a pioneer of nutrition solutions, Sight and Life translates nutrition science, fosters public-private partnerships and uses consumer insights to develop viable social business models for improved nutrition.

Eligibility

Candidates should be final-year PhD students or postdoctoral fellows in human nutrition from any country and younger than 40 years of age. Candidates should have an accepted oral or poster presentation that they present at the IUNS 2022 conference.

 Application requirements

Candidates will submit the following materials in English:

  • The accepted conference abstract and proof of acceptance
  • An essay on the following topic: Why is leadership important for the future of nutrition? What role will you play as a leader in nutrition research? The essay will be submitted as a word document, no longer than 1,000 words, with 1.5 line spacing, Calibri font size 11 or 12, 1-inch margins, and page numbers.
  • A brief (i.e., maximum 2-page) curriculum vitae (pdf)

The submitted materials will be rated with respect to quality, creativity, and novelty of the conference abstract and essay and overall leadership potential.

Dates

Applications need to be submitted by August 31, 2022, 11.59pm GMP+2.

Submission procedure

Applications need to be submitted by November 4, 2022, 12.00pm (noon) GMT+1. Candidates should submit their application materials through this link. The documents should be named as follows:

Applications that are incomplete or do not follow the guidance provided in this document will not be considered.

Review of applications

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of nutrition leaders from around the world who have been actively involved in nutrition leadership programs in their region. The submitted materials will be rated with respect to quality, creativity, and novelty of the conference abstract and essay and overall leadership potential.

Recognition of the award winner

The award winner will be announced by Dr. Klaus Kramer, managing director of Sight and Life at the symposium entitled “The challenge of nutrition leadership in a globalized world” that will be held during the ICN Conferences (December 7, 2022; 13h15 to 14h45 local time). The award ceremony will take place at the leadership networking event (date and time to be announced). The winner will receive a cash prize of €1,700 and €300 in support for the conference registration. The winner’s essay will be considered for publication in a Sight and Life publication.
