Inter Centre Collaboration Meeting (ICCM) 2025 was held on December 29, 2025, at Novotel Bandung hosted by SEAMEO CECCEP. This meeting was a strategic moment for SEAMEO RECFON to strengthen its role as a center of excellence in food and nutrition. This forum provides an opportunity to actively contribute in the formulation of regional research policy and strengthen the institutional governance of SEAMEO centers in Indonesia.
The meeting was opened by the Director of SEAMEO CECCEP and attended by the Bureau of Planning and Cooperation and the Board of Directors of SEAMEO Centers in Indonesia, including SEAMEO SEAMOLEC, SEAMEO RECFON, SEAMEO BIOTROP, SEAMEO QITEP in Language (SEAQIL), SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQIM), SEAMEO QITEP in Science (SEAQIS), and SEAMEO CECCEP.
This event discussed the SEAMEO Centres Policy Research Network (CPRN) Summit agenda that will be held in 2026, SEAMEO RECFON emphasized the importance of integrating food and nutrition issues into cross-sectoral policies. The proposed theme, Bridging Research, Policy, and Practice: Pathways toward an Inclusive, Equitable, and Sustainable Future, aligns with the mandate of SEAMEO RECFON to promote evidence-based policies to improve community health and welfare, particularly among vulnerable groups.
The CPRN Summit 2026 is expected to focus on 3 major pillars: education, science, and culture. In terms of education and science, SEAMEO RECFON can contribute to sustainable development by strengthening community nutrition research, developing human resources, and using data and scientific innovation. Consumption behavior, local food wisdom, and preservation of traditional food practices are relevant to SEAMEO RECFON’s role in the context of food security and nutrition.
The CPRN Summit 2026 is planned to take place in Jakarta, involving participants from SEAMEO Centers, the SEAMEO Secretariat, relevant ministries, academics, practitioners, and strategic partners. SEAMEO RECFON, along with other SEAMEO Centers in Indonesia, would act as co-hosts and contribute to strengthening scientific substance and publication outputs.
In addition, ICCM 2025 discussed key issues related to strengthening the institutional capacity of SEAMEO Centres in Indonesia, including inter-centre coordination, collaboration with universities and strategic partners, and the alignment of future programs with SEAMEO’s mandates in education, science, and culture. The meeting also emphasized the importance of strengthening scientific coordination, publication outputs, and sustainable program planning to enhance the Centres’ impact and visibility at the national and regional levels.
As a follow-up, ICCM 2025 agreed to form a Scientific Committee and Technical Committee for the CPRN Summit 2026 to strengthen coordination with the SEAMEO Secretariat and conduct further studies related to SBML implementation. Through its active participation in ICCM 2025, SEAMEO RECFON reaffirmed its commitment to continue contributing to the development of research-based regional policies, strengthening institutional governance, and improving food quality and nutrition in the Southeast Asian region.
