20 September 2025

SEAMEO RECFON in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (IKK FKUI), conducted a seminar titled “Nutrition and Physical Activity for Community Productivity” on 20 September 2025 in Jakarta. The event was attended by 125 participants, including university students, lecturers, representatives of professional associations and collegiums, and other members of the academic community, both in-person and virtually.

The seminar aimed to provide insights and up-to-date information on nutrition and physical activity as key factors in improving community productivity. This initiative also aligns with SEAMEO RECFON’s flagship program, Nutrition Goes to Workplace (NGTW), which targets adults in workplace settings to optimize employee productivity and well-being through an integrated approach combining community nutrition and occupational health.

Four distinguished speakers—Dr. Herqutanto, M.P.H, M.A.R.S, Sp.KKLP(K); Dr. Nuri Purwito Adi, MKK, Sp.Ok, Ph.D; Dr. Dian Kusumadewi, M.Gizi, Sp.KKLP(K); and Dr. Maria Lestari, B.Med.Sc, P.G.Dip.SEM, Sp.KO—collectively explored key strategies to support community productivity. Their presentations highlighted SEAMEO RECFON’s role in advancing community medicine, the connection between workplace safety and nutrition as drivers of performance, the importance of adequate nutrition for public health, and the contribution of physical activity in strengthening competitiveness and overall well-being.

Through this seminar, SEAMEO RECFON and FKUI hope to foster strategic thinking and new collaborations to improve the health, well-being, and productivity of communities in Indonesia. Participants are also expected to gain fresh perspectives, expand their professional networks, and develop best practices to support community health and performance.
