SEAMEO RECFON and The Ministry of Health of Lao PDR Represented by Department of Hygiene and Health Promotion signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 24 October 2023 in Vientiane. The MoU was signed by Dr. Phonepaseuth Ounaphome, DG of Department on Hygiene and Health Promotion and Dr. Zainun Misbah, the Acting Director of SEAMEO RECFON. In this opportunity, Dr. Jesus C. Fernandez, the Deputy Director for Program of SEAMEO RECFON represented Dr. Zainun Misbah. Both Parties agreed to collaborate on Strengthening the School Based Nutrition Program (SBNP) in Lao PDR through the Nutrition Goes to School (NGTS) Program.
As many as 4 institutions act as Main Partner (The Center of Nutrition, NC MoH) and Supporting Partner (The Inclusive Education Promotion Center – IEPC MoES, SEAMEO Center for Community of Education-CED, and Lao Tropical and Public Health Institute-LTPHI). The collaboration covers all stages of the NGTS Program including strengthening of organizational and individual capacities, expertise exchange, and monitoring and evaluation of the program.
This event was attended by implementer institutions from Center of Nutrition, Lao Tropical Public Health Institute, Inclusive Education Promotion Centre Ministry of Education and Sport, and others potential partners, such as UNICEF, WFP, and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
