Jakarta, 25 October 2024 – SEAMEO RECFON partnering with Politeknik Kesehatan Kementerian Kesehatan Malang (Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang) organized the Food Safety and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) training.  The training was held virtually from Monday, 21st October 2024 to Friday, 25th October 2024 attended by 36 participants/nutritionists.

This training was conducted as part of partnership activity between Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang and SEAMEO RECFON aiming to strengthen the capacity of health workers on food safety and HACCP principles.

The HACCP and Food Safety Training discussed materials related to food safety policy in Indonesia, the concept and issues in food safety, risks of food safety hazards in food management places, measures to control food safety hazards, development of HACCP principle 1, Building Learning Commitment (BLC), action plans, anti-corruption, and food handling during emergency situations. During the five-day training, participants received several materials on food safety delivered by resource persons experienced in this matter from Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang, SEAMEO RECFON and Malang District Health Office. Apart from that, participants were also given individual and group assignments, and practical sessions on preparing HACCP principle 1.

The training curriculum has been accredited by the Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia and participants who successfully passed the training will accept an official training certificate with 1 (one) credit number issued by the Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia. Additionally, the three participants received appreciation as the Best Participant and Most Active Participant awards.

At the end of the training, Head of Nutrition Department, Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang, Ibnu Fajar, SKM, M.Kes officially closed the training through his closing remarks. “Hopefully, participants who joined (the training) can practice the lesson learned in the workplace. I would like to convey our appreciation to SEAMEO RECFON Director, Director of Poltekkes Malang, facilitators, and committee staff for all the hard work to give the most to all participants. This training was well organized with a fun approach so it is easier for the participant to understand. Then I hope that this training will give you benefits and lessons.” said Ibnu Fajar. Furthermore, He also emphasized that the training ahead can be conducted twice a year for alumni of Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang and public participants.
