8–10 September 2025
SEAMEO RECFON organized the Nutrition Goes to School (NGTS) Implementation Training for elementary and junior high school teachers and principals in Muara Enim Regency on 8–10 September 2025. This initiative supports the implementation of the Healthy School Movement while also contributing to Muara Enim Regency’s vision of improving the quality of its human resources.
The training was conducted through a combination of synchronous and asynchronous sessions via SEAMEO RECFON’s Learning Management System (LMS), along with face-to-face sessions in Muara Enim. Before the synchronous training on 8–10 September 2025, participants had completed the asynchronous sessions starting 4 September 2025, which included a pre-test, learning materials, and assignments. A total of 50 participants joined the program, consisting of teachers, principals, and representatives from the local Education and Health Offices.
Teachers, principals, and relevant stakeholders are considered key actors in school-based nutrition promotion. Therefore, this training was designed to strengthen their capacity to implement nutrition and health promotion programs in schools.
Throughout the program, participants received materials on the role of educators as role models, nutrition and health for school-age children and adolescents, balanced nutrition guidelines, meal planning, NGTS program management, and school-based management for nutrition and health programs. Sessions were delivered by trainers from SEAMEO RECFON—Dr. Zainun Misbah, Aziz Jati Nur Ananda, M.Gizi, and Lia Mulyani, S.Gz—as well as Sartono, SKM, M.Kes, from Health Polytechnic of Palembang.
Participants also engaged in interactive activities such as discussions, practicums, lesson plan development, microteaching, and the formulation of a Follow-up Action Plan. The training concluded with a post-test and evaluation to measure participants’ knowledge and skills gained.
Through this program, participants are expected to be able to explain the basic concepts of child and adolescent nutrition and health, assess students’ nutritional status, develop lesson plans, provide nutrition education in schools, and design follow-up action plans to support school-based nutrition and health promotion programs.
