Visiting Student Research (VSR) Program
WHAT IS THE VSR PROGRAM?
A non-degree and non-credit research internship program that aims to enhance the capability of graduate students pursuing either a Master or PhD degree program to conduct a research along the research areas of SEAMEO RECFON under the supervision of the Centre’s senior researchers and/or affiliated researchers.
WHO COULD BECOME A VSR?
Nationals of any SEAMEO member country who are officially enrolled in a reputable university in his/her country or abroad.
TYPES OF RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES AND BENEFITS
VSR AS THE RESEARCH PROJECT PROPONENT
- VSR has a funding for his/her research project approved by his/her academic institution and related to SEAMEO RECFON’s research areas:
http://www.seameo-recfon.org/research-area/ - SEAMEO RECFON’s senior scientists and/or affiliated scientists shall serve as host supervisor and external committee member of the VSR.
- Free use of SEAMEO RECFON’s laboratory equipment (except consumables)
VSR AS A RESEARCH SUPPORT STAFF OF SEAMEO RECFON'S SENIOR SCIENTISTS/AFFILIATED SCIENTISTS
- VSR shall perform activities prepared by SEAMEO RECFON host supervisor related to the latter’s research project.
- VSR shall not incur any expenses related to the research project of the host supervisor except for travel and daily living allowance while in Indonesia.
EXPECTED OUTPUT
All Visiting Student Researchers are required to submit a final report and draft of manuscript on the outcome of their research affiliation with the Centre’
Notes :
- Authorship of the manuscript shall be the VSR, home supervisor, and host supervisor(s) from SEAMEO RECFON.
- Submission of the manuscript and the financial requirements for publication in a reputable journal shall be the responsibility of the VSR and/or his/her institution.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN VSR
ELIGIBILITY
- A national of a SEAMEO country
- Enrolled in a reputable university in his/her country or abroad
- Full-time graduate student
- Good academic and moral standing
- Proficient in written and oral English language
DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED
- Application letter (3 months before starting)
- Updated CV
- Copy of research proposals (if by own funding)
- Copy of official identity card or passport
- Letter of endorsement from host supervisors and home institutions
- Certificate of good academic standing from home institution
DURATION OF RESEARCH STAY
The research stay of the VSRs with SEAMEO RECFON under this program will range from a
minimum of one month to a maximum of six months.
Notes:
SEAMEO RECFON does not provide living allowance and payment to the participants. After completion of the program, SEAMEO RECFON will provide a certificate for the VSR.
