11–12 September 2025

SEAMEO RECFON in collaboration with Health Polytechnic of Tasikmalaya, conducted a series of partnership-strengthening and monitoring activities for the Nutrition Goes to School (NGTS) Follow-Up Action Plan at Amanah Islamic Boarding School, Tasikmalaya City, on 11–12 September 2025. This initiative marks an important step in solidifying the plan for the institutionalization of the NGTS Program at Amanah Islamic Boarding School to ensure its long-term integration into the school’s education system and daily activities.

The program kicked off on 11 September 2025, with a guest lecture at the Health Polytechnic of Tasikmalaya titled “Impactful Food Safety Education Program: The Role of Future Nutritionists,” delivered by Evi Ermayani, M.Gz., from SEAMEO RECFON. The session covered the importance of food safety education, behaviour change communication, and the stages of developing educational projects. It concluded with an interactive discussion with nutrition students as part of efforts to reinforce collaboration between the two institutions.

On 12 September 2025, SEAMEO RECFON and Health Polytechnic of Tasikmalaya team conducted monitoring of the 2024–2025 NGTS Follow-Up Action Plan implementation at Amanah Islamic Boarding School to review the progress of the school garden, nutrition education, and healthy canteen management. While the school garden has been developed with support from the Health Polytechnic and the Food Security Office, challenges remain, such as low seed germination and an unstructured garden layout. The visit also included discussions on the institutionalization plan of the NGTS Program at Amanah Islamic Boarding School, the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SEAMEO RECFON and the Health Polytechnic of Tasikmalaya until 2030, and the planned expansion of the NGTS initiative in Cirebon in 2026 with a broader target group. The day ended with a workshop to refine the 2025–2026 NGTS Follow-Up Action Plan, producing a preliminary draft as part of the institutionalization process.

Through this partnership-strengthening and monitoring effort, SEAMEO RECFON and the Health Polytechnic of Tasikmalaya reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the institutionalization of the NGTS Program at Amanah Islamic Boarding School. This initiative is expected to enhance adolescent nutrition education, improve healthy food practices, and serve as a model for implementing pesantren-based nutrition programs in Tasikmalaya City and surrounding areas.
