Southeast Asia Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Regional Centre for Food and Nutrition (RECFON) held an advocacy meeting with the Education Office Branch in Malang District, East Java on 28 May 2024. The meeting discussed the scale-up programme for the Nutrition Goes to School (NGTS) in Malang District. The meeting was attended by Education Office staff, Haryono Kurnianto and Titin (High School Section Staff), Diah Mardiana (Finance Manager), SEAMEO RECFON representatives, Dr. Dwi Nastiti Iswarawanti, and Evi Nurhidayati, M.Gizi, Malang Health Polytechnic representatives, Dr. Annasari Mustafa and Sugeng Iwan Setyobudi, M.Kes., SMAN 1 Singosari teachers, Wiwik Widati, M.Pd., and Hanik Purbatini, S.Pd., as well as SMAN 1 Lawang teachers, Erwin Qodariyah, M.Pd., and Rina Mustikasari, S.Pd.
The advocacy meeting resulted in three main agreement points. First, the Centre received support from the Malang District Education Department by assuring that the Induction Schools (Sekolah Pengimbas) will have to do a scale-up program using a letter of assignment or decree. Secondly, the meeting has formulated several related agreements about the NGTS Scale-Up Program steps, scale-up schemes, and potential affected schools. The meeting also agreed on the roles for each party; Malang District Education Department, SEAMEO RECFON, Malang Health Polytechnic, and the Induction Schools.
In the afternoon, SEAMEO RECFON also held a partnership meeting with the Malang Health Polytechnic. The partnership meeting was attended by representatives from SEAMEO RECFON as well as Malang Health Polytechnic Nutrition Program board members and staff. The discussion resulted in a partnership agreement between the Centre and Malang Health Polytechnic. This partnership will be from 2024 through 2027.
