The school food environment has been recognised as an entry point to support healthy food choices among children. In addition, policies, material, and teaching strategies that are developmentally suitable for students and address environmental changes are essential for successful school nutrition intervention.
Since 2020, SEAMEO RECFON has been developing the publication of “School-Based Nutrition Promotion Policies and Programs (SBNP) Country Profiles” in 6 countries from Southeast Asia. Also, we have been developing “Compilation of Healthy School Canteen Policies and Best Practices in Southeast Asia” into a Teaching-Learning Reference Publication for School Teachers and Students in Inter-Centre Collaborative Project with the grant from SEAMEOSecretariat, involving several Southeast Asia countries in compiling the book.
The two publications are worth sharing and could also be replicated depending on their existing contexts. In this regard, in conjunction with the celebration event of the 11th-anniversary #SEAMEORECFON with the main theme of “Sustaining Good Nutrition for All Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic”, we are conducting an International Webinar on “School Food Environment and Dietary Behaviour among School Children and Adolescents in Southeast Asia.”
